Can’t get enough beanie for the cold days? Here is an easy beanie knitting pattern to whip up in a day. This pattern comes with a bonus, it has both men & women designs for you to choose, or, knit both to make a “His” and “Her” couple set. Simply knit it with your stashed yarn left over from previous knitting project. I knit the women easy beanie from the balance yarn of my raglan pullover.
The difference between men and women easy beanie patterns is on the bottom edge of the beanie. The men has 2×2 ribbing band whilst women’s version doesn’t have have ribbing band, instead, it started with the 3 bulging lines pattern straightaway and added a decorative tab. The men easy beanie appears to be in a slight bigger size (21″ circum x 10.65″ ) than the women (19″ circum x 11″) even though the amount of stitch in a round is the same, this is because I used a slight bulkier yarn than the women easy beanie. The women has more rounds than the men design, again, due to the yarn, they seems to be in equal length. In summary, if you were to use the same yarn for both men and women easy beanie, please expect them to be in same width and women beanie is longer than men beanie. Yarn choice is important as it will determine the final size of the knit piece, so, please make a tension gauge to find out if the numbers of stitch and row meet those value stated in the pattern, however, 1 stitch and 1 row more or short in this small project doesn’t hurt much.
That’s me with the women easy beanie on the snowy street in Hokkaido last year. Do you notice the matched raglan pullover I am wearing in the first picture at the bottom? So glad that I was well prepared for that icy cold holiday, the price of knitting up a storm really paid off when we were able to keep ourselves extra warm with all these hand knitted garments.
Wish you have fun knitting this easy beanie!
